Today is my first day as CEO of . I know firsthand the system isn't designed to support women & girls in tech, and especially women & girls of color. I'm honored to build upon the amazing foundation has laid to close the gender gap in tech — for good.

It was a relief to see some parents waiting by the bridge b/c of the message chains our students smartly activated. When I finally made it home, I sat by my TTY device until I knew all of my students were safe. I will never forget how devastating that day was for so many of us.

Once it felt safe we walked across the bridge to Brooklyn. At one point along the way, we directed one of the students to walk alone across the Williamsburg Bridge. It was hard to separate and I asked him to send a TTY as soon as he was safe.

The school was so close that we saw the plane go into the second tower. We were stunned and struggled to keep our students calm and in the building. We were forced to walk further into Manhattan even though many of the students needed to get into other boroughs.

20 years later, not a day goes by that I don't think about this day. I'd recently embarked on my dream job of teaching Def & Hard of Hearing students at Murry Bergtraum High School in lower Manhattan. I was jolted out of my morning routine by reports of the first tower being hit.

These aren’t the top “female” athletes. They're simply the top athletes. Now that the National Women's Hockey League has changed its name, I’m glad that we can focus on our accomplishments instead of labels.

It breaks my heart when kids don’t have the resources they need to thrive, especially in the classroom.

It still blows my mind how Black communities built their own schools, educating thousands of kids at a time when marginalized students did not have access to most of America’s public schools. It’s so important that our stories are preserved (and told!)

Happy 67th birthday to Ruby Bridges, the first Black child to attend an all-white elementary school. At just six years old, she helped to change education and the world. Thank you for your courage.

I'm so proud partner Match Group CEO is speaking out against Senate Bill 8, the Texas law that bans abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy, and starting a support fund for Texas-based employees. Reproductive rights are human rights.

Labor Day makes me nostalgic for the West Indian Day Parade. As a little girl, we sold fried fish and other delights to during the event. Recently, I've brought my own kids year after year to celebrate our 🇯🇲 – big up!

More than 140,000 children in the U.S. lost a primary or secondary caregiver in a COVID-19 associated death. I’m glad to see this report that trauma and grief support is being taken seriously by educators across the country.

Alicia Guevara of is talking that talk. 👏🏾 It’s so important that our young people are heard, especially those in black and brown communities. We need to prioritize our students and give them the resources to become leaders of the future.

Women definitely have a place in tech, and they need an inclusive work culture to make them feel this way. No one in STEM should feel like they “don’t belong.”

"Grades are not only a reflection of student performance but can be self-fulfilling prophecies." GPAs are determined by more than just work ethic or raw talent. They’re a product of privileges like elite tutors, college-educated parents, and more.
