This new report highlights that the prosecution of Julian Assange poses a grave threat to press freedom. We’ll say it again: The government needs to drop its charges against him.

This whole thing is mind-boggling. The over-the-top headline actually manages to capture only a small fraction of the lunacy reported here.

Note the, uh, tension in the intelligence officials’ lines that (1) “WikiLeaks isn’t journalism so journalists don’t have to worry about a slippery slope” and (2) “let’s say Glenn & Laura are Information Brokers so we can prosecute them for journalism”

You really have to read this entire, well-reported investigation to believe it. Truly appalling behavior by the CIA involving illegal kidnapping and assassination plans. The Biden admin needs to drop its charges against Assange immediately.

Instead of “the Blob,” how about “unaccountable class of policymakers that has driven the country into a ditch repeatedly with its hubris, groupthink, and refusal to acknowledge error”? Would that be more to your liking?

You can leave US intelligence agency, go work as hacker-for-hire against activists and journalists on behalf of foreign government, and still escape with punishment more lenient than what national security whistleblowers face in Espionage Act prosecutions

NEW:The Pentagon called its last attack in Kabul a “righteous” hit on an ISIS operative. An NYT team found the “operative” was an aid worker, “explosives” in his car were likely water jugs & the hit - killing 7 children - may have been tragically misguided

My latest: 20 years after September 11, the Biden administration is supporting an expansion of state secrets privilege at the Supreme Court, to conceal evidence of torture that has been public for well over a decade

Remember all the tweets about 's insane proposal? Don't ever let anyone tell you that there's nothing you can do when a company announces a plan to screw you. This is a HUGE victory, but remember: this thing isn't dead yet. Be ready to fight if it comes back.

Danny Fenster, journalist and former student of mine, has been held by the Myanmar military for 100 days now. The only "crime" he committed was journalism. It's time for him to come home.
