🪧 Our team at is collecting the data on the global vaccination against COVID-19. Because of this, we're often asked what is the ideal format for national vaccination data reporting. Here you'll find an up-to-date example of what we need.

So bored of gotchas over world leaders taking jets to COP26, food suppliers not being sustainable, etc. These don't illustrate hypocrisy, they show that we currently live in a society that is unsustainable in a way that is difficult to escape even if you want to.

'When it comes to data sharing, it will be difficult for big orgs and govs to go back to the way things were. There’s now an expectation for data to be shared – the pandemic has shown the public the importance of sharing data.' – ()

Some new net-zero pledges came out of yesterday. How does the global picture look now? I just updated our maps based on the latest update from Find the interactive charts here:

  5. As for the Philippines, the government reports the data in a way that makes it impossible to know how many people in the country have received at least 1 dose of vaccine. Last known figure was 25% on September 30.

  6. Note that China has not reported the number of people vaccinated in the country since September 18 (76%). That's why it doesn't appear on this map.

One of the most startling Covid charts I’ve made in a long time, on vaccine inequality: Rich countries have given out more booster shots in the last 3 months, than poor countries have given out total doses all year. ’s story:

Many serious media report that the Covid death toll is 5 million, but that's a totally meaningless and misleading number, given that so many deaths go unreported in many countries. estimates that the true death toll is 16.7 million. ->

Most of my life is devoted to data, research & progress on climate change. But it's a field I nearly walked away from when I was younger. I was hopeless that anything could change. That's why I'm convinced we need a new narrative. My article in :

Very long term data on trade-adjusted emissions is not available (since the necessary detailed trade data is not available). But for the last three decades we have such data:

It's common to think that: – middle-income countries only have high CO₂ emissions because they're making stuff for rich countries – rich countries have only managed to reduce CO₂ because they're exporting emissions elsewhere 🧵with data on how we can test these assumptions

Interesting-- I had thought the US was ahead on boosters for having started earlier w/ more expansive eligibility, but UK, despite seemingly slow pace, doing relatively better.

Please Please Please Stop running silly stories about streaming video's "vast" carbon footprint It's utterly *ludicrous* to suggest that 0.3MtCO2e is a "vast quantity" It's one thousandth of one percent of global emissions (0.001%) There are bigger fish to fry Please

We've updated our end-of-year projections for global vaccination targets. We now project that 69 countries (43 of them in Africa) are currently not on track to have given a first dose to 40% of their population by the end of 2021. Read more:
