    Thinking of power of ‘framing’ - people who abuse partners frame it as ‘you made me do it because you...’. That frame so often reflected in reporting & discussion of incidents - taps into deep seated cultural models of why violence & abuse happens?

    I think you meant to write 'clear pattern of abusive behaviour led to man beating his wife', his actions were not caused by her not giving him 'clean socks'

    Comparing generations is useful to see how the world has shifted, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse, but intergenerational tension narratives are simple &ignore within generation divides of wealth, income, race. A renting millennial has similar problems to renting retiree

    Lords committee found millennials spend 150% more on housing age 25 than baby boomers at same age despite lower space standards. Welfare ‘time-bomb’ on horizon when generation who spent adult lives in retire -many with inadequate pensions.

    Ah - DWP still sticking with denying the problem instead of fixing it ⬇️ Benefit delays alone prompted *a fifth* of referrals - most others are for benefit changes & benefits simply not being enough. This is not a DWP success.

    DWP response to stats in Times (£) is disappointing. When they say UC is 'available to claimants on day one', they mean you can get an *advance* (essentially a loan) to bridge the 5-week wait for 1st payment 1/

    Home Office has disclosed to me its legal costs thus far in the case about the discriminatory Right-to-Rent scheme exceed £78,000. & may have to pay JCWI's costs (probably £35,000) too. And they're still appealing further, continuing to waste public funds on this case.

    At Taylor Wimpey AGM. Fascinated Board is being grilled by others on gender pay gap, social homes& director bonus. When I last did shareholder activism few yrs ago nothing similar. Unsure if bcos homebuilding is politicised or sign of higher expectations of companies

    Taylor Wimpey Board says that CEO Pete Redfearn has withdrawn his request for shareholders to approve a 400k bonus discount for him to buy a luxury London property as a result of media and wider pressure.

    Taylor Wimpey staff get up to £100k off properties but overaid boss Pete Redfearn has wrangled 4x that, while our affordable housing crisis continues. I'm looking forward to attending the AGM as activist shareholder behalf of on Thursday!

    On the plus side, great to hear highlight crisis in housing legal aid (Law Society says 21 million people live in an area with no housing legal aid solicitor) On the down side: there’s a crisis in housing legal aid, leaving vulnerable people without help
