BREAKING: This evening alone, the United States of America has been struck by no fewer than 6 natural disasters. A thread on these events. 🧵 First, a massive flash flood has torn through Yellowstone National Park destroying roads and bridges.

  3. "Every source contacted for this article – researchers, medical professionals, educators and cup manufacturers – was well aware of the phenomenon. Not a single scientific study has examined it.” Ahh good times. Don't even get me started on maternal mortality or menopause.

  4. Tampon shortage has friends asking about reusable period cups and discs and pads, which are safer and less wasteful, yay. And then you find yourself in that good old women's health rage spiral again because the "research" is just group chat and ahaha wow.

hey hey, I'm live with , talking about the Crypto Nuclear Winter Ice Age whatever we're calling this: - laying off ~18% of staff - EU crypto regulation - asks for help w/ ad tech - . crushing it w/ prayers

  7. I've recently been trying zero-waste period strategies including period underwear and a silicon menstrual disc (or cup if it fits). Tampons are NOT the only option, they're wasteful, and we should be making reusable options available to everyone -- it's humane and sustainable!

  8. And this is my favorite, from a Tufts climate police exec: “The irony is it should be coming from existing utilities, but generally speaking they have been very resistant.” Dinosaurs burning dinosaurs, the asteroid is coming.

  10. How we survive: Cheapest electrons on the planet, competition for energy, recalcitrant US oil giants and local utilities. The companies ready to disrupt themselves can come in for the win, and Shell is doing it in Texas.

  14. It was my fault for not realizing then that I probably should have. I've worked for companies that were happy to let me be an INtrapreneur and never own a thing. It was my mistake not to see it sooner. But their mistake will keep producing talent brain drain until they see it.

  15. When I was writing and taping the Buzz Report back at CNET in 2005 and 2006 (which yes, I created), are used to jokingly ask why I was working so hard when I could be on this new thing called YouTube falling off a chair and getting millions of views.

  16. Media does not necessarily produce the same returns as Uber, but brands and talent DO have real monetary value -- look only to Hollywood and the creator economy to see that.

  17. I *created* How We Survive and Make Me Smart. I created the video series and column concept I did at NYT. I created Always On at CNET -- hell, I wrote a business plan for it. and I created Buzz Out Loud and benefit from it still in love and incremental Patreon $$.
