I do nearly all my development inside if that counts, since I am running on

Now that I learned how to run commands from Toolbox containers without entering the Toolbox by using -c, I'm going to start scripting with it.

By the fault of (or because of) I've installed the silverblue distribution.
Which use intensively flatpak. And it works like a charm.
You can also use to add cli commands.
Very impressed !

The next cool new features blog is up. Covering podman image scp, allows U to copy container images between local and remote users, without requiring a container registry. Comes in handy for automation.

A month into using . It's bulletproof! Immutable base feels like the inevitable future of desktop OSes. With & , I have the productivity I need, with none of the traditional Linux package management foot-guns. Well done to all involved!

I mean, luckily most of that for third party apps is handled already with the move to Flatpak. That’s a big part of the reason we have been moving that way. For other types of work where you want/need more of a traditional Linux environment, toolbox on Fedora has been great.

Toolbox is so underappreciated (even by me up until recently). 💜

TIL if you want to do elementary development on Fedora Silverblue, Endless OS, or any other OS shipping toolbox, you can: just:
toolbox create --image=docker://elementary/docker:unstable
Boom, you have the same container that we use in CI.

Looks like a complete overkill compared to . And if one wants to use Podman, Fedora Toolbox does most of the mentioned steps automagically.

Using on Fedora Silverblue is a great experience. Running services on the session bus just works, running apps just works. I love it

For some things, and for development too, a Toolbox is the way to go. Once in the toolbox can dnf as in regular Fedora. Besides, inside a toolbox the OS stays the same, only modifying things inside the toolbox. Any mess happens? delete the toolbox. System is clean always

Particularly neat (IMO), is this:
fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/
github.com/coreos/enhance
I'm not very familiar with rpm-ostree or the rest of the CoreOS container stack, but I think this would enable writing your base OS as a Dockerfile
With Toolbx, you'd have something akin to Nix🤔

So, I've been an Ubuntu user all my life.
What is doing with , especially in F35 and upcoming F36 changes is really pushing me towards Fedora.
Wayland, Pipewire, NVIDIA, and the CoreOS work (rpm-ostree, Toolbx) is inspiring
is doing some wicked stuff

Think I've a setup I'm happy with. Fedora Silverblue for a stable base system, KVM for bits like NixOS, toolbx for Fedora/RHEL containers I can play around in and throw away when finished.

will complement . I use rpm-ostree only for things that need to be installed on the base image like media codecs, which has terrible support for Linux, and Howdy for seamless logins. rocks!

Check out the command: toolbox. It's basically a pet container that you can run GUI apps out of and treat like a traditional system.
