Hello, I'm Jeff Lindsay. I'm an independent creator/programmer/entrepreneur/dreamer who's somehow been at the forefront of cloud and developer tooling for the last 15 years. I work to make the world more generative and creative, and the world of computing more user extensible and re-combinable.
For the last few years I've been working on a project called Tractor, a tool for quickly making software systems. I'll be using Tractor to build all other tools for my creative projects. I will also be sharing these creator tools, and how they're made, with the world.
What I've done before
- Coined and evangelized webhooks
- Founded SuperHappyDevHouse hackathons
- Co-created Docker with Solomon Hykes and team
- Worked at NASA Ames on what became OpenStack
- Built Dokku and many PaaS/Docker primitives (logspout, registrator, alpine)
- Invented localtunnel, inspiration for Ngrok
- Executive Producer for Indie Game: The Movie
- Created and released several indie games
- Dozens of open source libraries and projects
What I'm doing right now
- Building Tractor and related open source building blocks
- Releasing prototypes and experiments on GitHub
- Writing about the work on Dev.to
- Streaming my work on Twitch
- Soon, making videos about it on YouTube

What sponsorship does
Solo development of something like this has been hard, but I'm starting to hire other people to help. This not only accelerates development but also balances the workload when I'm unable to work and Tractor is not making progress. So I occasionally work with friends, contractors, and mentor interns and have been paying them myself until Tractor is more sustainable.
Sponsorship accelerates development and helps pay the cost of living for many independent programmers and creators I work with from around the world. Their contributions help move my work forward and relieve me of some of the personal stress my work carries.
Thank you!
