    It's not just Congress. Staffers in Washington State Legislature are staging a sickout today after a bill to allow them to unionize died yesterday in Democratic-controlled State House. Solidarity to staffers and legislative staffers everywhere.

    I'm hearing that over 100 legislative workers called in sick today in protest of working conditions -- they want higher wages and overtime pay, but they're exempt from certain protections. Emails to Dem staffers are bouncing back with autoreplies all over the place.

    We + explained under Trump, Rs subverted norms around nominees- like not letting any Ds to be confirmed to FDIC. needs to fix ASAP, move as many noms as possible. Expect maximal obstruction if Rs take power, grind remaining Biden agenda to halt.

    NEW from me: yesterday's GOP boycott of a committee markup for 5 Fed nominees escalates a strategy that, under current rules, would prevent all Biden nominees from getting a floor vote. The only recourse is to change those rules or recess appoint:

    Republicans look poised to do blockade via denying quorum across an array of committees and noms - likely need to team up to push change to Senate floor rules or use recess appointments to circumvent. We can't allow for these delays.

    Toomey announces that Senate Banking Committee Republicans have made a "decision not to provide a quorum at today’s markup." They're trying to block Sarah Bloom Raskin, but that could hold up all 5 Fed nominees ⁠— including Chair Powell.
