Remember earlier this year when the Scala Center’s official response to a first-hand account of sexual harassment by one of its founding officers ended with a disclaimer noting that it “does not pass judgment regarding the concrete case” of “alleged” abuse?

Unfortunately it’s not practical to automate this process, but if you notice something like this in the Wayback Machine, it might be worth taking 15 seconds to cross-archive it.

Public web archiving pro-tip: Archive Today doesn’t remove social media content on demand like the Wayback Machine does, and if you manually archive a WBM link in AT, it’ll get indexed under the original URL.

An amazing thing about the Twitter experience is that you can get targeted with a mass-reporting campaign by a ban-evasion account that was posting Day of the Rope memes last week

The flip side here is that we observed 35,267 accounts with “.eth” in their display names who aren’t on this list (yet).

Here’s a list of 3.9k Twitter accounts that have lost their “.eth” recently: gist.github.com/travisbrown/dd

If these folks are upset that we’re documenting their hate speech and harassment, they can take it up with the Wayback Machine, which is where 95% of this data comes from (we’re just indexing it).

This project (not surprisingly at all), looks like it’s 🎯🎯 Scratch a neo-Nazi and you get neo-Nazis, fascist, white supremacists and two circles of the IDW troll farm. 🔥 twitter.com/travisbrown/st

Yep—I’m only tracking one account that follows this one, but 86 that it follows: gist.github.com/travisbrown/51

So by tracking the follower / following lists of several thousand public far-right accounts, it’s possible to identify some of the protected accounts that may be driving these harassment campaigns.

The basic idea is that while the follower / following lists of protected accounts can’t be accessed directly, these connections can be seen from the “other side” (if the following / follower account is public)…

I’m working on independent anti-harassment reporting that (among other things) highlights non-mutual protected followers that need review (based on their histories and who they follow). DM me for a preview.

I’d like the option of disabling QTs by locked accounts with whom I’m not mutuals. Locked accounts QTing is a major driver of targeted harassment campaigns. We have no way of seeing exactly who is targeting us AND couldn’t report the tweets even if we could see. Thanks you. twitter.com/michaelsayman/…

I am now opening “commissions” to raise money for Ukraine. I will be offering to model your home office like the one below. Rules in this thread. Retweets are welcome.

New year, new art project! ✨ I've started modeling the spaces of industry designers, and @joeyabanks is first. #tinyhomeoffices

An isometric 3d render of a tiny office of Joey Banks, a systems designer at Twitter. It features a desk at the left wall with a computer, books, a tiny plant and a desk lamp on it, and a cozy chair with a side table at the bottom right of the room. The room is lighted through the door and windows on the top right. The light is soft and the scene has a calm feeling to it.

If you ever doubt your power as a lone worker, remember that Amazon spent $1 million in union busting costs per every worker-organizer on our campaign. The power to connect with the people you work with and care about is the power to change the world. Solidarity forever❤️ #ALU

Spent yesterday wandering around Barnim and found a couple of bunkers I’d never come across before (on the one day I forgot to pack a light, of course). It seems likely that both were built by the Stasi in the 1970s.

Just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how many billionaires have been assassinated in my lifetime (so far), and the answer is “probably more than 1 and less than 5”, which I think is higher than I would have guessed

Yet another nazi gets doxed because of an old Twitter screen name (also another reminder of how much useful info is sitting around in the Wayback Machine waiting to be indexed).

2/ Tonight’s award for Bad Actor goes to Nazi creep and Unite the Right conspirator Michael Anatolivich Newidomy aka Mitch Hoob/Mark Hoob, recently relocated from Cornelius, NC to Bismarck, North Dakota. Strong content warning for racism, antisemitism, and general Nazi shit.

To be clear about what’s going on here: someone at Twitter couldn’t figure out how profiles with country-specific bans were rendered, so they made a live test account (), banned it in the US and France, and it’s been in use for half a decade.

Catching developers trying shit out in prod because that’s the only way to understand how it works: always hilarious Being reminded of how incompetent is and how nobody at Twitter understands or gives a fuck about moderation: less funny

Interesting observation on accounts blocked in Germany not actually getting suspended 👇
Quote Tweet
Replying to @travisbrown and @TweetsYeeter
There also seems to be a suspension inoculation effect here. This is from a batch of profile data I’ve been collecting since early February, and in that time only one account with a country-specific withholding has been permanently suspended (out of 25,893 total suspensions).

The list of accounts withheld in Germany isn’t surprising (RT, Sputnik, a whole lot of Nazis), but the Russian list is odd. A few obvious accounts, but the rest seem like random individuals and gambling sites?
