How many of these layered protections have we abandoned? Is it any wonder the economy its suffering because workers are chronically sick?

If anyone presented the mass infection of kids with Covid in schools as an experimental design to a University research ethics committee it would be knocked back with horror. Yet we’re happily conducting this experiment in the real world on a generation of kids. It’s just wild.

Hey, who is noticing that “post-pandemic normal” is a lot of “I’ve been knocked out by this cold for weeks” and “Sorry, we’ve had to cancel this event!” and “My kids are sick for the second time in two months!” and “Due to staffing shortages…” and “The ER wait was 10 hours!”

"England" is also difficult, since I don't only identify with that geography, but perhaps it helps that it's named after a Germanic tribe? 'Earth' is the simplest term - except that means 'Ground' and is the least imaginative term we could have used to name our planet? (2/2)

I'm struggling to describe where I'm from. I can't say "United Kingdom" any more since it's not a Kingdom (Queendom?) and it definitely doesn't feel United (thanks Brexit). "Great Britain" is also difficult, is it really great nowadays? But perhaps Britain would work. (1/2)

I'm virtually at a specialist discussion meeting today. At least, some bits of it. Due to no schedule being circulated, I've managed to catch 2.5 talks, had to drop off for a telecon, and now seem to be connected back to the lunch break?

The view the other way, normally you’d see Gran Canaria, but the edge of the storm is there. Tenerife is inside the windy bit!

This sounded promising, except the investigation seems to be into the leak for some reason, and not into how they could even draft such a daft decision?
