I usually don’t tweet while speechless, when I have nothing to add but fury, but I don’t know what to do other than say how horrible, how gutting each new detail is

A police commander on the scene decided the gunman *locked in a classroom* meant "there was time" to get the keys & "no more children at risk." This determination was made while the *elementary school kids* were calling 9-1-1 & their parents were *begging* cops to go inside.

But the federal government has done nothing to dissuade Americans from buying the biggest, tallest vehicles. Inexplicably, still hasn't added pedestrian crashworthiness to its crash test ratings program – something Europe did 20+ years ago.

Undocumented parents suffer the consequences of mass shootings in ways that few people discuss. Accessing victims funds, arriving at a school to see if their child is still breathing only to be met by ICE agencies… It’s an American nightmare with so many layers of hell attached

Just to recap: 1. The police are not obligated to protect the public. 2. The police are not obligated to uphold, or even obey, the law. 3. The police are not obligated to put themselves in harm's way to prevent harm, even to children. Why do we have them?

You wrote *hundreds* of emails to the Houston convention center’s board chairman in the last 24 hours. 👏🏻 Now let’s tell Hans Prins, GM of , that he should cancel his company’s participation in the NRA event this weekend: hans.prins@marriott.com

If you want to take tangible action tonight, email the man who has the power to cancel the NRA event in Houston this weekend. His name is David Mincberg. He’s a Democrat. He’s chairman of the board that owns the convention center hosting the NRA: dmincberg@flagshipco.com 1/2

Here’s what won’t admit, but clearly knows. Most mass shooters are neither felons nor fugitives. The #Uvalde shooter wasn’t. Neither were the El Paso or the Santa Fe High School shooters. Neither were the Buffalo or Sandy Hook shooters. It’s just distracting tough talk.
Quote Tweet
I’m going to keep fighting to target felons and fugitives who try to buy firearms. We need to stop bad guys from getting guns, not law-abiding citizens.

Thank you, . Inspired by your words and actions, I decided to make my own voice heard. And encourage you, friends, to do the same. If you need any suggested language, please feel free to take from my email.

If you think your private right to possess weapons like these is more valuable than the public interest in not being murdered simply by being in a public place on the wrong end of said guns, you have something fundamentally broken in your heart and mind to value things over life

Uvalde is a town of just 16,000 people. But it apparently has a SWAT team. We’re regularly told small towns need SWAT teams so they can quickly respond to events just like this. The killer was in the building for an hour.

I found the Facebook page of the Uvalde Police Department. It is very interesting and does not conjure a feeling of safety or wellness. facebook.com/uvaldepd/photo

The alleged good men with guns waited for men with bigger guns while the gunman had an hour to murder children. Never let Republicans fall back on the notion that there’s a hero out there to save us.

During “career day” at a Fort Worth elementary school one day after 21 people were slaughtered in their classroom, a Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office deputy gave a presentation on AR-15s that included a diagram called “A Liberal’s Guide to the Deadly AR-15.”

Imagine paying your police department 40% of your annual budget and when your kids are getting massacred at school by a gunman, they stand outside and wait for backup. Not for 10 minutes. Or for 30 minutes. FOR AN HOUR. While parents stood outside and begged them to intervene.

The Parkland Cops ran away. The Buffalo Cop was killed instantly. The 3 Cops at Uvalde were overpowered, then waited 40 min to enter the school. Veteran Cops repeatedly failed—but we’re supposed to expect Lunch Lady Doris & School Nurse Betty to stop a terrorist with an AR-15.😑

Just chewing on party leadership spending insane amounts of money to ensure a 150 vote win by an incumbent who opposes abortion and supports the NRA and then yells at everyone to vote for them so that they can protect protect abortion rights and fight for gun safety.

Almost like the media should always be skeptical of what law enforcement says because they have a long history of lying to the press.

Schools are closed in Donna, Texas, after police found an AK-47 and a list of targeted students in the home of a would-be mass shooter. Earlier today, police found an AK-47 pistol in a high school student’s car in Richardson, Texas. It’s the fucking guns

A lot of people are upset because of police inaction at a school shooting, you know what you should really be upset about? SCOTUS ruled in Castle Rock V Gonzales that police DO NOT have a duty to protect you from harm, but they do have to help evict you.

one of the most maddening things about the way we talk about police in this country is that even when there is a video of them screaming at parents for being concerned that their children were literally being murdered a few feet away, no one will ever admit that they fucked up

Cops stood outside the school while the killer rampaged inside. Onlookers yelled at them to go in. They didn’t. One parent urged bystanders: “Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to.” story:
