GitHub Intro

Brendan's Instagram Brendan's LinkedIn

Hello, and welcome to my GitHub profile! You can see some of the projects I have worked on here. Currently, I am studying Computer Science at Clemson University, with my target graduation of May 2023! One of my favorite parts of Computer Science is how hands-on it can be, and how easy it is to create something to solve real problems.

Additionally, on weekends, I work with the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, as an Event Support Specialist to support K-12 robotics competition across the State of South Carolina! It is such an inspiring experience to see all of these hard-working students building the future of STEM.

Projects Intro

  • tm-obs-switcher (Nodejs)

    • Automation tools to assist competitive robotics tournaments automate their livestreams, removing the possibility for error and reducing load on event staff.
    • Used successfully at dozens of large scale robotics events, including the Kalahari Classic, South Carolina State Championship, and Northeast Wisconsin Showdown
  • snoostorm (TypeScript)

    • Event-based library for streaming from the Reddit API
    • Over 1200 downloads/month
  • mtrx (Rust)

    • Matrix Library using Rust's new Const Generics features
    • Matrix sizes are determined at compile time, allowing for better type checking
  • tigertix (C#, Nextjs, TailwindCSS, PostgresSQL)

    • Group Project: ticketing app for venues on Clemson University's campus
    • Microservice based architecture with C# backends
    • Frontend using Nextjs with TailwindCSS, with Auto0 for custom authentication.

Work Intro

Software Development Internship – Epic Systems (Summer 2022)

Software Engineering Internship – Clemson Energy Visualization & Analytics Center (Summer 2021)

  • Technologies: TypeScript, React Native, Node, OracleDB, Microsoft SQL Server, Git, Lerna, Next.js, Tailwind, Framer Motion
  • Lead development of a cross-platform React development app to fulfill the needs of research project
  • Results published in scientific paper: Adaptive and Personalized Space Recommendation to Match Occupants with Their Preferred Thermal Environments (Building and Environment)
  • Created engineering process for development: monorepo and branch-based workflow with custom continuous integration

Event Support Specialist – Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (September 2021–Present)

  • Provides live onsite support to competitive robotics competitions including technical support, rules clarifications, conflict resolution, and ensuring organization mission
  • Supports nonprofit mission to increase student engagement in STEM throughout SC
  • Assist in running the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship, the largest competitive robotics event in the world.
