Organization

The Migrations API is only available to authenticated organization owners. For more information, see "Roles in an organization" and "Other authentication methods."

The organization migrations API lets you move a repository from GitHub.com to GitHub Enterprise Server. For more information, see "Exporting migration data from GitHub.com" in the GitHub Enterprise Server documentation.

List organization migrations

Lists the most recent migrations.

get /orgs/{org}/migrations

Parameters

`accept`	string	header	Setting to`application/vnd.github.v3+json` is recommended.
`org`	string	path
`per_page`	integer	query	Results per page (max 100) Default: `30`
`page`	integer	query	Page number of the results to fetch. Default: `1`
`exclude`	array	query	Exclude attributes from the API response to improve performance

Start an organization migration

Initiates the generation of a migration archive.

post /orgs/{org}/migrations

Parameters

Name	Type	In	Description
`accept`	string	header	Setting to`application/vnd.github.v3+json` is recommended.
`org`	string	path
`repositories`	array of strings	body	Required. A list of arrays indicating which repositories should be migrated.
`lock_repositories`	boolean	body	Indicates whether repositories should be locked (to prevent manipulation) while migrating data.
`exclude_attachments`	boolean	body	Indicates whether attachments should be excluded from the migration (to reduce migration archive file size).
`exclude_releases`	boolean	body	Indicates whether releases should be excluded from the migration (to reduce migration archive file size).
`exclude_owner_projects`	boolean	body	Indicates whether projects owned by the organization or users should be excluded. from the migration.
`exclude`	array of strings	body

Get an organization migration status

Fetches the status of a migration.

The state of a migration can be one of the following values:

pending, which means the migration hasn't started yet.
exporting, which means the migration is in progress.
exported, which means the migration finished successfully.
failed, which means the migration failed.

User

The User migrations API is only available to authenticated account owners. For more information, see "Other authentication methods."

You can use this API to review, backup, or migrate your user data stored on GitHub Enterprise Server.com. For a list of migration data that you can download, see "Download a user migration archive."

To download an archive, you'll need to start a user migration first. Once the status of the migration is exported, you can download the migration.

Once you've created a migration archive, it will be available to download for seven days. But, you can delete the user migration archive sooner if you'd like. You can unlock your repository when the migration is exported to begin using your repository again or delete the repository if you no longer need the source data.

List user migrations

Lists all migrations a user has started.

Initiates the generation of a user migration archive.

Fetches the URL to download the migration archive as a tar.gz file. Depending on the resources your repository uses, the migration archive can contain JSON files with data for these objects:
