State Rep. TN HD90 Retired special ed teacher, OFA Alum, healthcare advocate, public school supporter, she/her, #blacklivesmatter, Always standing TALL!
When I got home this weekend someone asked how things are going in Nashville, I’m not sure they were ready for my answer, but it went kind of like this…
These horrible stories keep happening, threatening the lives of pregnant people in red states with abortion bans. Eventually someone will die. And the blood will be on the hands of those who signed these laws. #AbortionIsHealthcare
Me: We need common sense gun laws.
Maga trolls: “Your fat.”
Me: We need to invest in public schools.
Maga trolls: “Groomer.”
Me: We need to expand Medicaid.
Maga trolls: “Your fat.”
Me: We need Paid Family Leave for TN families.
Maga trolls: “Cry more.”
Good talk guys🙄🤡🤡🤡
) shares a heartbreaking interaction she had with a third-grade Girl Scout about gun control and has a rebuttal to one of the biggest pro-gun “arguments” there is.
Republican-mandated torture
"we can not touch you unless you are crashing in front of us or your blood pressure goes so high that you are fixing to have a heart attack.'"
I want to give a shout out to several amazing doctors here who’ve stepped up in big ways for TN. Please give them a follow & help amplify their voices:

It has been quite an 18 months for this Tennessee Republican supermajority’s “leadership” 🎪
(And this doesn’t even touch on the last speaker, who resigned in shame after an avalanche of scandals)
Sexton: Sex scandal involving TN Rep. Scotty Campbell cost taxpayers at least $8,841.
$189-night downtown hotel at taxpayer expense

I'm suing.
The recent actions violate my 1st amendment rights, as well as the rights of my 11,000 constituents to representation.
Montana's State House is the people’s House, not Speaker Regier’s, and I’m determined to defend the right of the people to have their voices heard.
This kinda seems like a violation of House decorum…doesn’t it? It also cost tax payers about $9,000. Interesting, that’s about the exact amount the Speaker spent on my closet/office instead of giving me the empty member office across the hall.
It's an outrage that the people of District 86 have to have another election just because Cameron Sexton got mad and decided to disenfranchise them. TN taxpayers are on the hook now for THREE special elections, all due entirely to the misdeeds and malfeasance of the

A state official came at me in my DMs over the weekend b/c I RT’ed a post about an issue I’ve advocated around for 7 yrs & it’s made me pause on every post, QT, RT, or like since. Will they see this post? This RT? Will I get a letter from an attorney? Another angry DM? 1/
This is outrageous. I just talked to a group of 3rd grade Girl Scouts about writingletters to the editor or writing letters to their representatives about issues they care about. I didn’t talk about partisan issues, anyone should be able to write their legislator about any issue.
“Tucked into page 8 is a stipulation outlawing all assignments involving “direct communication” between students and their federal, state or local officials – short-circuiting the training young Texans receive to participate in democracy itself.” https://apple.news/AoZBNH0C4Qg2MFpOLJir7EA…
: We're focused on making sure we do the things we need to do to help kids recover in 2023 which is:
✔️ Engage in & overcome social-emotional academic issues
✔️ Experiential & hands-on learning
✔️ More community schools
Thursday, Republicans moved several bills out of my committees, preventing me from representing my constituents not only on the floor, but in committee.
The (D) vice-chair of Judiciary called out their actions.
The next day, Republicans scheduled new hearings in my committees.
The fact that we’re interviewing presidential candidates polling at 1% who spew whatever they can to get to 1.2%, while not focusing on the assault on democracy in state after state, is a BIG part of the problem.
: “I’m trying to hold it together. Every time I’m on camera with you I’m always about to cry… to see you, someone so young, speak so passionately and eloquently about our nation, and who we can and should be.” ❤️🇺🇸
“Not content to control those rooms in states where they dominate the political scene, some Republicans have said, in essence, that representation is a privilege for communities whose chosen lawmakers don’t offend their sensibilities.”
From NYT: "Not content to control these rooms...Republicans have said, in essence, that representation is a privilege for communities whose chosen lawmakers don't offend their sensibilities."
This is what I mean I say that we are standing up for democracy itself.
Just talked with a fabulous group of 3rd grade Girl Scouts working on a Democracy Badge! They understood that every person deserves representation and everyone of age should be able to vote. The future looks bright with this crew, they believe in standing up against injustice!
We have a gun violence epidemic in our country due to the proliferation of bad laws that lead to weapons of war in the hands of people who should never have access to them. We deserve ACTION from lawmakers whose apathy keeps allowing this to happen.
