Day42- I am glad we have a date for a special session, but remember, @TNGOP ended session without doing anything. This is not a priority for them, this is an inconvenience. Contact your elected officials and ask for them to support TN citizens in passing common sense gun laws. twitter.com/bfrist/status/…

"The manifesto to me is a lot of noise level right now.” -security expert 100% agree. A GOP-spin machine smokescreen to try and deflect attention from the real problem that threatens our children and communities. Has said the word “gun” or “firearm” yet?

The calls continue for the release of the manifesto left behind by the Covenant School shooter. But, a top security expert questions whether that should even be the focus as we look to prevent such massacres. newschannel5.com/news/top-secur

The extreme right TN AG’s office (or “the largest publicly-funded chapter of the Federalist Society in America,” as I refer to it) continues to grow exponentially. Bad ideas become bad laws which become expensive lawsuits that waste taxpayer dollars. 💸 #FiscalResponsibility

Chilling video. Incredibly thankful the wonderful people at are safe. 🙏🏼 We must take action on #GunViolence and pass #GunSense laws now. NOW!

The magnitude of what could have happened yesterday didn’t quite hit me until I saw our surveillance video. It’s chilling to watch. The bullistic glass held up, preventing it from shattering. A lot of us here still processing what happened. Glad no one was hurt @FOX13Memphis 💛

I stand by every last word. “No one has done more to harm our public schools and strategically undermine teachers than Penny Schwinn, in lockstep coordination with Bill Lee.” It will take years to undo their intentional damage to our public schools.

In response to my questioning on the Govt Ops Cmte, the new Comm’r of DCS admitted that some caseworkers have upwards of 60 cases. EACH! Reports have some at 80. This is an impossible situation for these caseworkers and fails each child we have a duty to serve.

Senior Reporter @stockard_sam writes that a measure to cap @TN_DCS caseworker loads at 20 failed in the waning days of legislative session--but could be brought back in 2024. tennesseelookout.com/2023/05/02/dcs

Meanwhile, Capitol scuttlebutt has it that Lee DID NOT HESITATE to accept Penny’s resignation weeks ago. This, of course, is a tad surprising given that she’s been a more than willing accomplice in his scheme to dismantle our public education system in TN.

As commissioner of @TNedu, Penny has played a key role in our administration’s work to ensure educational opportunity for TN students & secure the next generation of teachers, while navigating historic learning challenges. I have tremendous gratitude for her leadership & wish her… Show more

Columnist doesn't bury the lede: "Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and the GOP supermajority of the General Assembly have failed a critical test of leadership in the wake of the Covenant School massacre: They have failed to exhibit moral imagination."

Reps. Green and Fleishman voted against billions in new investment and thousands of jobs for Tennessee. Green is shown here explaining how they go to DC and totally forget Tennessee while Fleishman is just ...I really have no idea what he is doing. Just like his time in the House

Our Invisi-Senator apparently hasn’t been paying attention to the activity of his GOP mates in the state legislature. Nothing resembling TN “values” or traditional conservatism going on in these parts.
