On August 13, 2010, the officials of Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa voluntarily recalled specific Julian dates of shell eggs produced by their farms because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Here's how to check if your eggs fall under that recalled.

- 1Check your eggs if you bought them anywhere in the US. While eggs affected by this recall were distributed to companies in California, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, these companies distribute nationwide.
- 2Check if your eggs are packaged under any of the following brands: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps. If they are, proceed to the next step.
- The cartons can be any size (6-egg cartons, dozen egg cartons, 18-egg cartons).
- This recall is of shell eggs only. Other egg products produced by Wright County Eggs are not affected.
- 3Check the Julian dates and plant numbers. These are stamped at the end of the carton. The Julian date is three digits. The plant number begins with the letter P and then a four digit number. If the Julian date is between 136 and 226, and the plant number is 1026, 1413 or 1946, your eggs have been recalled.
While the press release says the Julian date comes after the plant number, in this case it comes before. - 4Return recalled eggs in the original carton to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. If you ate any of the eggs, know How to Recognize Salmonella Poisoning (Salmonellosis).
