Take Action to Prevent Noise Pollution

Noise pollution is loud and unpleasant human and machine noise always present in big cities and suburbs, and interferes with our sleep and quiet time. The best thing you can do is not become a part of it.

Edit Steps

  1. 1
    Politely tell neighbors if they are making too much noise or the music is up too loud.
  2. 2
    Avoid making noise yourself. You CAN make a difference, and here are some of the ways;
    • When you listen to music, keep the volume down and close the windows.
    • Use manual lawnmowers instead of electric or gas powered ones.
    • Commute by bike rather than driving a loud, polluting car.
    • Keep the noise level at parties down.
    • Especially don't make noise at night.
  3. 3
    Lobby companies that make too much noise. Write letters to factories and nightclubs that are producing a lot of noise that interferes with neighborhood peace.

Edit Tips

  • Motorcycles sometimes make more noise than cars because the owners modify them to be louder. Talk to those people or report them.

Edit Warnings

  • Extremely loud noises, such as gunfire, factories, and airplanes can damage your hearing.
