The Vascular and Interventional Radiology Division offers expert state of the art minimally invasive image guided diagnostic and therapeutic care for a wide variety of vascular and nonvascular conditions affecting the chest, abdomen and extremities.

Specialized Procedures

Arterial Disease

  • Diagnostic arteriography and venography Magnetic Resonance and Computerized Tomographic Angiography, ultrasound and functional assessment for peripheral vascular disease
  • Recanalization (thrombolysis, angioplasty, stent) for symptomatic mesenteric, renal, brachiocephalic, upper and lower extremity occlusive disease
  • Embolization for control of post traumatic, gynecologic and gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Percutaneous management of aneurysmal disease (aortic, visceral, extremity)
  • Comprehensive management of vascular malformations (specialty clinic)

Venous Disease

  • Image-guided vena cava filter placement
  • Recanalization/reconstruction for upper extremity, caval and lower extremity veno occlusive disease
  • Sclerotherapy/ablation

Oncologic Services

  • Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) for patients with inoperable liver cancer
  • Vascular access (tunneled catheter, chest and arm ports)
  • Transarterial localized tumor therapy for hepatic, ENT and pelvic malignancy (chemotherapy, brachytherapy)
  • Image guided percutaneous tumor ablation (cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation)
  • Palliative care (pleural effusion/ascites management)

GI Services

  • Management of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Management of portal bleeding (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt TIPS, transhepatic variceal sclerosis/embolization)
  • Percutaneous image-guided access to biliary tree (cholangiography, biliary drainage, duct biopsy, recanalization, antegrade endoscopy, manometry, percutaneous cholecystostomy)
  • GI tract (gastrostomy, primary and conversion gastrojejunostomy, jejunostomy, cecostomy, esophageal and colonic stent placement)
  • Abscess drainage/management-fistulography
  • Transjugular liver biopsy

GU/Nephrology Services

  • Ischemic nephropathy-recanalization of the renal arteries
  • Dialysis Services: Image-guided transjugular and translumbar catheter placement and exchange, recanalization and management of native and prosthetic dialysis access conduits (declot, angioplasty, stent)

Gynecology

  • Uterine Fibroid: embolization therapy
  • Infertility: Hystersalpinography and recanalization for proximal occlusion

Pulmonary

  • Image-guided tube throacostomy for localized collections
  • Pleurodesis
