How to Use Plain Text
Plain text is great (not just for programming but) for sharing documents, saving space, reading eBooks on your eBook reader. Fed up of waiting for PDF books to load or download? Plain text is lightning fast. It has been used historically and is still very useful today. Its cross platform and can be used even on the CLI without a GUI.

1Get a decent text editor. You will need one that works on your operating system. Some decent file managers will display text.

2Choose a language. Most Western Europeans will use Western Europe but there is also encoding sets that support Arabic or Chinese.

3Choose an encoding set. Unicode, ASCII or Microsoft Windows are just a few examples.

4Choose an encoding. This is important for line breaks and paragraph spacings. For example, UTF-8.

- Your eBook reader will generally format it with the default font which may make it look better.
