Donating Collections
From the Harvard Medical Library in the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine
The
Center for the History of Medicine acquires, preserves, and makes
available the historical materials that provide vital context and
perspective to contemporary biomedical research, clinical medicine and
dentistry, and public health. Study of the history of medicine enables
a broader understanding of the larger society within which medicine is
embedded.
The
Center has primary responsibility to document the goals, activities,
and accomplishments of the Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of
Dental Medicine, and Harvard School of Public Health, and their
faculties. It also seeks to document developments of regional and
national importance in biomedicine, medical sciences, and public
health.
