Tina Miller (new to wikiHow) wants pictures added to EVERY single article. She made her first article "How to Make Raisin Shortcake". She only reads articles with pictures. She saw "How to Throw a Knife" was too violent, so she left this "How to Throw a Knife is too violent." on the Adminstrator Notice Board. Eventually, "How to Throw a Knife" will be deleted soon, so, IIIneedasaviour, if "How to Throw a Knife" is your favourite article, you can kiss it goodbye! Tina Miller's wikiHow username is WikiGirl66. I read her second article "How to Make a Homemade Elsa Plush". Her third article is "How to Renact When Your Linux Computer Freezes". Her fourth article is "How to Play Hide and Seek With Pets". She also wrote "How to Buy a Pug Puppy on a Budget". All her articles are very helpful. Her profile picture is herself watching over a beautiful sunset in the country of Australia, where she lives. Did you know that in Australia, wikiHow has over eight hundred and sixty-seven thousand million users? I live in Ireland. I just found that out the hard way that wikiHow has over eight hundred and sixty-seven thousand millon users in Australia. WikiGirl66 (Tina Miller) never reads articles without pictures.

Hi Matt, Thanks for your question and how wonderful that you're going to forward the enjoyment you've experienced, that's cool!
While I think that the URL is probably sufficient, I think your proposed use of the social media account user's name is actually more in line with the whole sharing culture that underpins both wikis and recipes. Plus I think it's really nice to acknowledge individual contributors from social media accounts and could even fire up those people to connect more here too. In sum, I'd suggest that the more personal the sharing source, the nicer it is to return the acknowledgement personally. Hope that helps you to decide, looking forward to seeing your new article! Cheers, Felicity

So I thought I'd first leave a message on their talkpage and hopefully they comply. .
Thanks for reminding me the template.

Hi Matt, That looks like a really great fresh and tasty dish, I can see why you made it - and enjoyed it too. :) Anything with ginger in it has my tick of approval - although I don't eat fish, I would definitely use that marinade for my veggies. I think your link looks fine, and the contributor also did an adaptation, so one fine recipe is getting shared around nicely! As for the image problem, you might like to raise that with Anna or Krystle because a) you have a nice photo to share and b) it might be a bug affecting others. I have vague memories of such an issue some years back but can't remember how it was resolved. Thanks for adding another great article and so quickly after promising it too! Cheers, Felicity

Hmm interesting - okay. My first thought on it is that the actual file on your computer might not be saved as rotated? I know that within certain image programs, the file can "look" rotated, but the rotation isn't saved and hard-coded into the file unless you manually find the save option, or even export or change the file name. But maybe you tried that already! When you reuploaded, did you try a new name? Thumbnails can take a while to regenerate, so if you're using the same name, you might still see the old thumbnail too. When I click into it, here, I see it the right way. I think that the thumbnail shouuuuld get refreshed eventually, but I'm not positive, so maybe try uploading it as Make_Sesame_Ginger_salmon_1 instead? Let me know if that works! Looks yummy, by the way :)

Hi I NFD'd this article because I don't think that Wikihow should be teaching people how to live unhappily. I agree that it wasn't exactly mean-spirited, but I thought that was the closest to the reason that I could get using the NFD criteria. Thanks, Cat.

Hey there... got your message. This is so tiring.. I welcome having my thoughts refuted, I learn a lot that way, and I thrive on it. But my thoughts were not being refuted. They were being twisted, reversed, and changed into straw man arguments with some personal attacks thrown in for good measure. And then, the straw man arguments were refuted rather than my thoughts. I even pointed out nicely that those were not my words and not my thoughts. Twice.
My boundaries are, refute my thoughts? Yes please, I love a good intellectual conversation and even more so if I can learn from it. Personal attacks, no. Marginalize me by bringing my stats into question, no. Tell me I don't learn, no. Tell me what I think and what I’m going to say, no. Take abuse from someone because they're a veteran, no. Pretend I’m not being attacked when someone tells me in public forum to go to wiki after dark and read graphic porn? And be humble about it? Seriously? No.
At first I had a feeling this person thought I was a kid and therefore didn’t want me to participate in a serious discussion. So I was patient. But at some point enough is enough. If she thought I was a kid, why in the world would she name a graphic porn website and tell me to go read porn? If she knew I was an adult, I sill wonder why she would do that? Something’s not right there. I won't humbly accept such abuse. I'm not paid to be here, so I'm not required to just shut up and work. I'm sorry we had to meet under these circumstances. Looking forward to better times :)

I noticed your forum comments and wanted to thank you for them. I also want to make you aware that I've long stood for protecting minors at wikiHow and have never liked the sex articles found at wikiHow. I support the sex articles as the community has decided having sex articles are part of the how-to experience. My forum comments concerning wiki after dark, or whatever it's called were based on a reminder that I read in another wikiHow forum thread, by wikiHow Administrator Lois Wade. Wade seems to think there is a wik after dark and says sex articles are (and should be )posted there. I do not know if this is true as I've never personally visited the site or searched for it online.
I have always worked to make sure wikiHow is a safe haven for minors. After this experience, where I was falsely accused of cyber bullying by a minor, I would strongly encourage wikiHow to re-evaluate the policy of having minors participate at wikiHow. I would like to see wikiHow move to verified age of 18 as that is the age of majority in the State of California where wikiHow is located.
I am sending this full message to Jack Herrick so he is aware of the situation.
I'm also leaving wikiHow after this experience.
Here are the comments I left on Adelaide and Krystle's talk pages:
This is the message I left on Adelaide's talk page. If you have time, please send me your comments. You have my email address. Thanks!
Hi! Adelaide,
I've had a day or so to think over your post. One of the reasons why I left wikiHow is partly due to your message and partly due to the comments made in the forum.
Your message to me, while well intended, came across as condescending. I'm sorry but it did. I know you meant well, and you have good intentions; but your message struck me wrong.
As I presume both you and the other poster are minors I will not write more and try to understand the level of maturity you are both coming from. I'm not saying I'm any better than either one of you, but I have lived much longer than you both. During that time I've experienced much and hopefully learned.
Perhaps I should have been more patient with the poster in question, I don't think I was impatient, as I patiently explained to her several different ways about the NFDSEX. Her lack of understanding lead me to ask how many patrols she had done. It was a fair question as most seasoned patrollers understand the reason, and need, for the NFDSEX. To repeat I patiently tried to teach and explain the concept of sexually charged articles and what the differences were. I also gave several clear examples which the poster seem not understand.
Something else I would like for you to review is the comments made by this poster: "Your bullying, flaming, and disruption of a thread that I believe was started in good faith by an active admin is not appreciated." I have never been a bully nor have was I attempting to disrupt a thread. I have worked hard to support many contributors here and have diligently worked to support all who contribute. I would have loved to have read some support from you and instead I was taken to task for being condescending.
My only fault is that I've been a parent, and when you've been a parent, sometimes you end up sounding like one. If you wish to find me at fault for sounding like a parent I will accept my lumps.
I hope you will evaluate this experience and learn from it. I know you meant well but your attempt at reaching out to me and mediating did not work.
I am sending this message along to Krystle for her to review.
Hi again Mary, I saw this discussion and, although I try to stay out of heated discussions, I thought I'd take a stab at mediating by offering my two cents. It looks like Annie was asking a question about the nuances and reasoning of the policy on why we do not allow sexually charged articles? From reading the forums, it looks you answered that question and did the right thing (I could be mistaken).
−
− However, I came across this post and I am concerned that it sounded a little condescending: "How many patrols have you made? The sex NFD is there for a reason. It gives wikiHow an opportunity to remove sexually charged articles from wikiHow. If you've seen some of the words written that I have seen you would not be posting this message. You would know why the NFD SEX is needed."
−
− It looks like Annie was having trouble telling the difference between what is sexually charged or what is not. This is understandable as the difference is often difficult to tell, and asking legitimate questions is an opportunity to learn (and to teach). To my understanding, editors tend to feel inferior for asking legitimate questions when they are not addressed or addressed with an impatient tone.
−
− My only advice for future would be to maintain a more patient tone and do your best to address the concerns thoroughly, rather than asking irrelevant questions. I'm sure that a note like this would do the trick:
−
− "I appreciate your bringing this article to the community's attention. Bringing an article with a mixed consensus to the community's attention is the best way to go, so you did exactly the right thing. I'm not sure if you knew this, but (your interpretation of the nuances and reasoning for policy). However, I understand that different people have different interpretations of this policy.
−
− In addition, I feel that this article should (your thoughts) because (explain your reasoning). I understand that others may have different opinions, though, so I welcome them to participate in the discussion. Thanks again for doing the right thing and raising your concerns."
−
− I would advise you not to worry too much about the situation though. You have started some of wikiHow's best articles and performed a lot of quality work on the site, and I understand that discussions about controversial topics can get heated very easily. I just thought that I would offer some useful advice that might help future discussions become less heated. I hope that helped, and that you stick around and continue to make wonderful contributions.

My weekend was kind of interesting. I've been doing volunteer search and rescue training since October and this weekend we were supposed to have a training outing, but a guy went missing and we ended up combining our survival training with an actual search (sadly we didn't find him). So we spent the day searching, then the night building a shelter and tending a fire through the whole night. In below freezing temperatures! AND there was a meteor shower and clear skies. Crazy few days!

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away, You had left me a message saying: "it's always good to take a step back, take a deep breath, and respond with a calm head, rather than throwing punches blindly in the dark. Anyway, I'm so glad you were willing to acknowledge the incivility and take action to move forward. It definitely shows your good character."
I think you misunderstood me. I did not acknowledge any incivility on my part. The extent of that was an apology for saying "trolling" which it clearly was not. In trolling the opening poster is one who starts an inflammatory thread then sits back to enjoy the show. Andrew didn't do that. What I said is "bullying, flaming, and disruption" and I stand by that, I make no apologies for it. I mistakenly apologized for saying “trolling” but when I went back to see if there was anything else I should apologize for, I saw that the fact is, I never said “trolling” someone else did. I just took them at their word but they had made a mistake.
