EditSteps

  1. Make an Allied Map in Starcraft Step 1.jpg
    1
Open the Campaign Editor. Make a new map. Choose a size that is at least 192x192. Allied maps are very large. You need at least that for two teams (three is possible, but is a tight squeeze), and you need 256x256 for three or four.

Make areas for the teams to start in. Each player should have some mineral fields and a vespene geyser. Place them in close proximity to each other, but not too close. You still need space to create structures and move around.
    • Optional: Wall in the starting area like a fortress. Put in 1-4 exits, depending on the number of players and position of the fortress. Also put stairs up to the tops of the walls if you want. (For examples see maps such as "Crystal Castles", "Allied Fortress", or "Acropolis".

Continue this process until you have the same number of areas as teams. If you want, you can separate the teams with a bridged river.

Add extra resource areas, critters, and doodads sprinkled around the map. Be sure to place ramps going up hills (unless you want the hills to be accessible only by dropship/overlord/shuttle.)
  5. Make an Allied Map in Starcraft Step 5.jpg
    5
Move players into separate forces. Check Allied, Allied Victory, and Shared Vision. Then name the forces.
  6. Make an Allied Map in Starcraft Step 6.jpg
    6
Place starting locations. Be sure that the players who are in close proximity are in the same force.
  7. Make an Allied Map in Starcraft Step 7.jpg

In the "Player Settings" menu, change all the races to "User Selectable", unless you are doing a race-specific game. In that case, change them to their respective races.
  8. Make an Allied Map in Starcraft Step 8.jpg
    8
In the "Scenario Properties" menu, change the name and description of the map. Be sure to add "Use Map Settings for Allied Play" and the number of suggested players at the top.

    Save the map and play!

Tips
Provide Details.
Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation. Don't worry about formatting! We'll take care of it. For example:
Don't say: Eat more fats.
Do say: Add fats with some nutritional value to the foods you already eat. Try olive oil, butter, avocado, and mayonnaise.

EditTips

  • To add more variety to the map, add different types of buildable terrain randomly around the map. To do this, select the terrain type, and then randomly brush it. Then take another terrain type and do the same until the desired effect is achieved.
  • Add triggers if you want. This will make the map even more interesting.

EditWarnings

  • Don't go too crazy with critters. They block visibility and are very annoying in large numbers.
  • Be sure to provide ample space in the resource areas. Zerg can cause a big problem here with other races due to creep.
