How to Motivate Yourself Using Lists
Have little or no motivation to do anything? Lists can be helpful to motivate yourself! Here's how.
Steps
-
1Figure out what you need more motivation on. Doing bad in school? Want to join a sports team? Need a job? Losing weight? Making a list about the steps and things you'll need is an important first step. Write down any websites that could help you achieve your goal.Ad

2Place your list somewhere you will see it everyday. For example, your binder, mirror, or laptop will work fine. If you see it every day, you'll be more motivated than if you forget the goal even exists.
-
3Know that lists can be filled with more than just steps. For example, you can write down any information about the subject. If your trying to lose weight, for example, you could write down "do not eat junk food!", or a more healthy choice, such as, "drink 3 bottles of water everyday!". Using more positive tips (like the 2nd one), instead of reminding you of the negative, will help you realize it's not a big deal. You CAN achieve anything!
-
4Use pictures that inspire and motivate you. If your browsing online and see a picture of your favorite celebrity, who's not over-skinny but still confident, print it and paste it smack dab next to your list. Next time you start to whine about all the things going wrong, you can look at the pic - and realize the end result will be worth it. Or - if you're doing bad in Algebra, for example, but get one very good grade, put it near the list. It will remind you that you're NOT stupid, and of that great feeling you got knowing you could do well!
-
5Make sure to stick to your list. Read it all the time. Check off things you have completed. Write down your accomplishments (relating to your goals, of course!) - 5 A+'s so far!, lost 6 lbs!, made the basketball team!Ad
Tips
- Don't be obsessed with lists. If you let them control your life, you won't be motivated at all! Take it one goal at a time.
