Research
My primary research focuses on how lifestyle factors, like diet, are related to cancer development, particularly prostate cancer, and the molecular mechanisms. Much of the work is based on Physicians’ Health Study, Health Professional Follow-up Study, and Nurses’ Health Study. Currently I am working on:

  • Analyzing pre-diagnosed and post-diagnosed dietary factors (dietary patterns, major food contributors and nutrients) in relation to disease-specific and all-cause mortality.
  • Analyzing the association of blood levels of fatty acids with prostate cancer mortality and time effect modification on the association.
  • Analyzing the blood levels of C-peptide, adiponectin, insulin, IGF-1 and IGFBP3 in relation to prostate cancer mortality.
  • Analyzing combined effects of tumor angiogenesis and Gleason grade in predicting prostate cancer mortality.
  • Analyzing high-fat and low-fat diet in relation to mRNA expression among prostate cancer patients with high-myc status (translational research with mouse study)

I am also working on nut consumption in relation to colorectal cancer risk, how stress biomarkers are related to ovarian cancer in a pooled analysis, and have been involved in the Validation study in Diabetes & Women’s Health Study.
