    I mean, we did get it onto the NYT Bestseller list, and it was reviewed all over the place and it did all right in the Goodreads readers awards, so, yeah, I think we did just fine by it, random marketing solicitation email. But thank you for asking! PS: Paperback on Tuesday!

    I've seen a couple of people complain about the fact that in "Three Robots" the basketball is still inflated after however many years, but not seen anyone complain that the skeletons littering the backgrounds are somehow intact, even when hanged, which I think is interesting.

    It's also in the original story the episode was based on, and I was pleased it made it into the short. Please note there was no promotional consideration offered or solicited for mentioning "Exploding Kittens," it just fit the story.

    Let's also not forget that a non-trivial number of "conservatives" fear democracy because they're bigots, and they would rather chuck the democratic process to the side than to let those they fear and hate show up unimpeded to cast a vote.

    US conservatives fear democracy, for the simple reason that their policies & goals are unpopular. That is the subtext underneath half of our more specific disputes -- over "voter fraud" & voter restrictions, the electoral college, the filibuster, immigration law, etc etc.

    (And for the record, UC Santa Cruz *was* my first choice among University of California system campuses, and I think I would have been happy going there, had I attended.)

    When I was in California there was a similar policy; if you were a resident and you had a certain GPA/SAT score, you were guaranteed a place at *A* University of California campus, although not necessarily your first choice. This was how I was accepted to UC Santa Cruz.

    Univ of Texas has auto admit policy (by state law) stating if class rank is top 6% you're in. My oldest, who is graduating this year, has friends who are National Merit Scholars and accepted into ivy league schools but didn't make it into our largest public state school.
