    authoritarians work both ends - they use disinformation & propaganda to confuse & crowd out credible info, while also criminalizing reporting & dissent as 'spreading false information'.

    It's true Russia has built a disinformation program on steroids, but Autocrats have used disinformation as a pillar of their power for ages. It's cheap and easy, which is also why terrorist orgs like it too.
