The more people talk about my pinned thread of threads as a "mini-course" on modern American political history, the more it bugs me that it's not arranged in chronological order. So, here it is, with threads sorted together by era.

This could not be more explicit. The WH held up aid to Ukraine to extort Zelenskyy to publicly implicate Biden on the basis of nothing more than Trump desire to criminalize a political rival.

Wow, look at this. Taylor testified that Morrison told him Sondland had confided that Trump wanted an explicit announcement of an investigation into *Biden.* So that blows apart Sondland's claim he didn't know this was about Biden!

People who admitted Trump used Ukraine aid to force investigations to help Trump in 2020: Rudy Giuliani Bill Taylor Gordon Sondland Mick Mulvaney Donald Trump The "transcript" told us that Trump did it. Those around him tell us he meant it. Will the Senate do anything about it?

Yikes. I didn’t think things could get much more damning than that call, but this is really appalling. Everything about this screams that they knew they were doing something wildly inappropriate.

OK, history Twitter - I need your help. In addition to a) lynchings b) the 1921 Tulsa riot, what are 8 (or so) other things that we should have learned about race in America in school, but didn't? Hopefully my Sunday column (cc: )

Yes, the final poll average had Clinton +3.2 and she won the popular vote by +2.1. But please, keep insisting the 2016 polls were wrong! It never gets boring!

Whether you’re speaking for or against him, I’m going to need white people to stop freely using the concept of lynching today to make their points.

Actual Kruse: AOC is right to liken ICE camps to concentration camps which are actually different from death camps And yes, I am a historian, but I can probably find a remedial English tutor to help with your reading skills.

So let me just say this - Lynch has been one of the most conservative member of members of the house on impeachment and investigations. Even after the inquiry he was telling constituents (in Boston) he was worried it'd screw up an infrastructure deal so this is something.
