Paralympic athlete Marieke Vervoort ends life via euthanasia due to incurable disease

The Belgian athlete, who won gold at the London 2012 Paralympics T52 100m wheelchair race and silver in the T52 200m, chose to end her life in her home country because of a degenerative muscle disease that left her in constant pain. Vervoort was 40 years old.
