    Another good reminder to leave a as recommended by - even if you have decent gear, if you're immobile and out of comms range, you could be in a heap of trouble.

    Arrowsmith SAR said that they used a technology developed by Michael Coyle from to locate the hikers. The software was able to accurately determine their location via their cellphone. Thx &

    Sept 13, 1500 hrs update; was able to drop off a rescue team close to the injured hikers position via hover exit. The rescue team assessed & assisted the hiker to a more suitable location to be helped into the 🚁. Just after 3pm the hiker was successfully rescued.

    @ 1354 hrs; has been asked to assist with a stretcher carry of an injured hiker from the emergency shelter on Golden Ears. Heavy smoke means no helicopter evacuation today unless conditions to improve quotes

    Considering a hike in the smoke? smoke is a complex mix of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) & gases such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides & volatile organic compounds. ƒConsider your health & the safety of volunteers 📸

    Bear Encounters in the If you encounter a bear,🛑, stay calm & NEVER RUN. Most bears are wary of humans & tend to avoid us. Black bears evolved in wooded habitat so they are more inclined to flee into the forest rather than engage. 4/4

    Special Note about & When mtb’ing or running, you may be travelling relatively quietly & at a higher rate of speed. This can 🔼 your chances of surprising a bear. Slow down around blind corners & call out more frequently to avoid surprising a bear. 3/4

    🐻 Manage your attractants. 🐻 Avoid hiking alone. 🐻 Keep pets leashed or under control when in bear country. 🐻 Use extra caution in bear habitat. 🐻 If you find a carcass leave the area. 🐻 Take training. 🐻 Carry bear spray & be able to access it quickly. 2/4
