For dishes, we used mostly used a dishwasher but when I handwashed I used a different sponge. For laundry, I recommend using a plastic bag to transport and wearing a mask and gloves. Might be over the top but best to be very careful. Complete isolation for 10 days.

We did all of these and it prevented the spread to the whole house. I recommend the sick person stay in a bedroom that has an ensuite bathroom if one is available. For meals, drop off food, knock and leave outside. Complete isolation.

“If it is COVID-19, you probably gave it to us already on Sunday during the drive, so no point in sleeping separately.” Not the right attitude. It was while waiting for the test results that we realized how much we did wrong and put this protocol together for ourselves. 5/5

When sore throat started last Sunday, I thought, “oh it’s from the smoke or air conditioner in the car”. We were driving that whole day and I didn’t wear a mask in the car. 2/

Really surprised at myself, after 7 months of the pandemic. Despite doing things right to protects us & others in terms of masks/distancing, when I had to isolate at home and protect family, I did everything wrong.

Had a light scare and needed COVID-19 testing last week. Shocked by how improperly we reacted in terms of isolation at home. Wrote a protocol for ourselves for the future. Might be useful for others.

I remember my shock in 2003 as a new grad student at Berkeley when I learned that our tenured professor, Peter Duesberg, cofounded the AIDS-denialism movement and advised South Africa's Thabo Mbeki against giving anti-retrovirals to those with HIV.

Reminder: You can find a scientist who doesn't think COVID is dangerous You can find a scientist who doesn't believe in climate change You can find a scientist who doesn't believe HIV causes AIDS Just b/c you can find them, doesn't mean you should believe them.

I just made the final payment on my student loans. I did undergrad on an ROTC scholarship - paid off in military service. Later, as a single parent pursuing a PhD, I needed loans. Finished the degree in 2002, paid off loans today. I support student loan forgiveness for all.

Yesterday, 3 famous scientists spent 2 hours on TV telling that lockdowns do more harm than good & that COVID-19 isn't all that bad/lethal. Today, DeSantis allowed all restaurants to reopen at full capacity. These scientists are culpable.

It's ridiculous that it can take so few to stand in the way of responding to a public health emergency. At the very least, let's work together and help us find a way to help others rather than just shutting every option down.

Hard for me to call this a victory when I still can’t get a program in place to test our local public schools. 1 step forward, 7 steps back. It’s an endless, exhausting battle.
