    This week, Conservator Lauren is working on this object. It is a set of surgical instruments used by Dr Usher Williamson Evans worked in the Crimean War. Some of the instruments have corrosion so Lauren is using a microscope to carefully remove this under magnification.

    Today is . Did you know, attempts to perform blood transfusions date back to the 1400s? But it wasn’t until the early 1900s that the different human blood types that made transfusion a viable medical treatment were discovered. Read more:
