1/ The team has been working around the clock for the last week to support the State of Georgia in running their first state-wide risk-limiting audit, which turned into a full hand-count.

We just wrapped up our work supporting Georgia with their post-election audit. Because of the tight margin, this audit turned into the largest hand-count in US history. voting.works/news/2020/11/g

I have no problem with your pushback, it doesn't offend me. I make mistakes too. I just don't quite know what I said that you found objectionable in this case. In any case, cheers, and happy to hear more if you want to say more, or happy to let it drop.

I don't see what's wrong with my comment, but if you can say more about which real-life reasonable concern I'm minimizing, I will certainly think on it.

Do you think this is new? I think once we got past only techies using the Internet, it was already the case. Mid-late 90s, easy.

can confirm, I've made this exact recipe, straightforward even if it takes a little bit of time to peel and cut. Don't underbake it, you want those yams mushy. Big hit.

👏 👏 👏 Georgia successfully completed their risk-limiting audit in 2 days, providing strong evidence that ballots were counted correctly.

All counties in Georgia have completed the hand count of batches for the statewide Risk Limiting Audit (RLA). 5% risk limit has been met, verifying that @GaSecofState Raffensperger is the winner. Thanks to the counties & @voting_works for their dedication & hard work. #gapol

BOMBSHELL 🧵: We’ve noticed that election misinformation seems to spread more widely when there’s incendiary language & out-of-context graphics, pictures, or videos. So we are going to EXPOSE the UNBELIEVABLE facts as election workers are CAUGHT IN THE ACT following the law. ⬇️

I'm spending some time playing with a personal Mastodon server to decide if I can shoulder the maintenance of an elections community one. There doesn't *need* to be an elections-specific Mastodon, but are some benefits to having themed servers for finding each other.

I have benefited greatly from Twitter. I have learned a lot. I have met wonderful people. I'm going to be quite sad if it dies.

Georgia's risk-limiting audit is in progress, with assistance from the team and open-source Arlo software. Georgia is pushing the envelope on transparency: they've published a hash of the batch totals for later verification when those totals are released.

3) So, in order to achieve transparency and audit integrity at the same time, we are publishing a hash of the machine-counted batch totals: 6178c47d22cccfc68c281cdcf9e21dd07f06501d57167c40f2149a26df33f2e2 #gapol

We're proud to be helping Georgia run their Risk Limiting Audit this year, once again. A critical piece of ensuring election integrity.

We kicked off our Risk Limiting Audit (RLA) of the Statewide SOS contest. Rarely do you see the press so enamored of 10-sided dice. We threw 20 of the dice to feed numbers into the RLA software to direct counties to which ballot batches to hand count to verify the winner. #gapol

And you release this *the day after* Taylor Swift tickets go on sale? Jokes aside, this is pretty cool!

This statement is proving to be strongly and painfully true so far in my Mastodon experience. I think Mastodon might make people miss The Algorithm.
It's audit season, where a number of states now work to ensure their scanners worked properly.

So this is one of the situations I expressed concern about a few days ago – what happens now? How quickly will all Mastodon instances be updated? I'm assuming this attack works across instances, so *every* instance needs to be updated fast, right?

Elections in the UK are simple, typically one or two bits of paper and a single choice per ballot. US elections commonly have a ballot pack that is as thick as a small novel and has complications like write-in candidates. Of course, the UK one will be faster to count. 2/
Example ballot paper from the UK, showing 7 candidates and the instruction "Vote for only one candidate by putting a cross in the box next to your choice".
