I can't recall another case in which a state appeals court upheld a conviction when both the defense and state AG asked it to be overturned, with no opposition from the DA. We've seen a few with a new DA/defense on one side, and a state AG on the other.

It's truly bizarre the state could move forward with this execution while it's top lawyer has called for clemency.

The women in question have been a constant presence in committee meetings and floor sessions for weeks, putting in a lot of time to call for gun reform lawmakers won’t act on before adjourning tonight.

Lt. Gov. Randy McNally is on a hot mic, asked to rank this year in terms of craziness. Says income tax protest and TennCare removal protests were more intense. Then Sen. Adam Lowe quips that they got "all the attractive moms in Nashville" to come protest against guns.

Meanwhile, the American Firearms Association was in the Capitol handing out letters threatening to aggressively “prosecute backstabbing Republicans in the court of public opinion at election time — especially primaries" if they support an extreme-risk measure

Campbell's legislative bio and contact page have been scrubbed in the last 30 minutes. An odd thing we're noticing is his name appears to have disappeared from recent vote counts, including the budget from yesterday and the Pearson/Jones expulsions.

Several holy cow moments in this story including: ‘potentially 1000s of $ have been spent to protect one victim, relocating her from the downtown apartment building where she and Campbell both had apartments…and placing her in a downtown hotel for the remainder of her internship

Now we know all you have to do to appeal a mic shut-off for being out of order is to raise your hand or say something. Of course, if your mic is off, it's hard to be heard. Another problem: you might not want an immediate vote on the board.

NEW: Some GOP leaders say ’s 11th-hour risk protection order legislation does not have support to pass before the end of session — or, some say, ever. Inklings of support for a special session. From & me:

Bill language being floated doesn't allow ex parte hearings and instead requires court hearings to be scheduled within 3-5 days of law enforcement filing a petition alleging threat of substantial harm. Whether that's enough to alleviate GOP objections to ERPOs remains to be seen

The next 48-hour stretch is likely make or break for this. Lawmakers are coming in after lunch to take up the budget. Lawmakers could, of course, choose to extend their time in Nashville to deal with this, but that certainly doesn't seem likely at this point.

Thousands of people turned up in downtown Nashville to form a 3-mile chain in a gun reform protest. Meanwhile, lawmakers haven’t committed to passing gun legislation by the end of the session that is hurtling toward a close (and that they could easily choose to extend.)

Scoop: In Jan. the CA learned the state of Tennessee declined a yearly federally funded grant from the CDC for HIV prevention services. Today, we learned the CDC is bypassing the state of Tennessee and routing the $$ to United Way of Nashville. (1/?)
