    It's but strangely I haven't seen any tweets from about the fact a crypto standard they developed that is part of everyone's mobile phone was intentionally vulnerable.

    Turns out ETSI, the organization that designed the GEA-1 algorithm, had to make it weak because of export controls.

    Just got an SMS from Serco's Test & Trace advising of a potential Covid exposure at an unidentified location & date. It cannot possibly relate to anywhere I have been since May 31st. Additionally all the candidate locations are huge places. In no way fit-for-purpose.

    This is an amazing paper. It implies (with strong statistical evidence) that the design of a major mobile-data encryption algorithm — used in GPRS data — was deliberately backdoored by its designer.

    Seems Johnson's minders want him to scrap GDPR, presumably because it's inconvenient to the people gathering the sort of data that let them manipulate the Brexit referendum.

    In a meeting today, Elizabeth Denham from assured me that she was “relaxed” about the UK keeping “high data protection standards”. The Government have today appointed IDS , Theresa Villiers MP and to front the axing.

    Looks like those Sunlit Uplands will have considerably fewer farm animals on them.

    Hey, Scottish farmers - tariffs will be scrapped *immediately* on imported beef and lamb from Australia. The pledge to protect farmers for 15 years has been dropped.

    Covid crisis to remain in place until it is no longer needed to hide the Brexit crisis.

    Boris Johnson confirms Covid restrictions will remain in place until July 19th. Unclear as yet which year.

    The presence of a copyright assignment requirement in a commercially-backed project is almost certain to mean someone doesn't want to be subject the terms everyone else must abide by. They and their sham freedoms should no longer be tolerated.

    One of the reasons copyright assignments are so readily tolerated in single-company projects is because developers have been groomed to believe it's OK.

    Assigning your copyright to the Free Software Foundation helps us defend the GPL and keep software free. Thanks to Per Weijnitz and Shingo Tanaka for assigning their copyright to the FSF!
